And as Upier mentioned, there used to be the 'bundle of doom' that caused monsters to studiously ignore everybody else than the one carrying the bundle, and ANet properly removed the 'feature' when it was abused.
Well, as someone who has tanked up to illidan on wow, I'll tell you that it is A LOT more complex than simply hitting an "I can has aggro plz?" button It requires a lot of knowledge of the game and threat/aggro mechanics and a lot of teamwork for a group to be successful. And yes, it takes skill.

I've played a lot of different mmo's and all of them have their ups and downs, pros and cons. Guild Wars included, nothing is perfect. When I said that a lot of people are closed minded, I meant all the people that scoff at the fact that someone is suggesting something from another game to benefit this one.

My suggestion would be to bake threat generation into all of the skills of every class rather than having special skills and whatnot like the OP was suggesting. This would allow warriors (or any class really) to establish threat on a target so they could keep mobs attacking them rather than the softies and the rest of the party would have to exert more control of themselves in order to not pull the mobs onto themselves. This wouldn't make it that different from how it is now, but it would make aggro more manageable, and I think it would add an additional teamwork aspect to the game.

Um. This is exactly how things are in GW right now. Your actions very much affect how much each monster 'hates' you, and they pick their targets based on relative hate levels. You can tank'n spank if you want, or whatever.

You can't really establish anything though, enemies priotize weaker targets over targets with high armor levels. In this game, it's more of a matter of positioning and "tricking" the mobs with skills such as SY! into attacking you.

That you clearly don't know how monster AI target acquisition works in GW and how to use it to your advantage doesn't mean that the mechanisms aren't there ...

As many others have said in this thread, tanking doesn't exist in this game and the high armored classes in this game just exist, mainly, as dps classes. Guild wars simply does not have the mechanics that I am speaking of, and I am not saying that it should. I am just saying that giving high armored classes more of a means of controlling aggro wouldn't be such a horrible idea

Anyway, I find it funny how you think this game requires any type of skill for pve. It requires the least amount of skill of any game I have every played. ursan... who needs a "i can haz aggro" button when you can just have a "i killz everything with 1 skill, k" button

You're wrong, tank'n spank has been in GW ever since it was published, it's just that it's a dumb tactic and misuses available resources and is thus frowned on by more experienced players.

Here you're wrong again, all the necessary means are already available. If you really want to tank, snare the mob with Grasping Earth, aggravate them with Cyclone Axe and if some monster still pines for a juicy monk just KD it and Bob's your uncle. But as said above, why should the gameplay be made any dumber than what it is already?

Troll more? I'm just pointing out that you're ignorant about basic game mechanics and asking for something that is there already. Besides, ursanway was killed a while ago, did you miss the funeral party?

All you need to do is use your head when targeting.

Tanking works in WoW because the game is balanced around dungeons having a tank and a healer.

In Guild Wars, tanking would basically be just as powerful, if not even more powerful, than Post-Nerf Ursan Blessing. If any class had distinct aggro gaining ability for tanking mobs, then a monk would be able to put up PS + SoA and boom, your whole party would never take any damage.

If you thought the whining about Ursan was bad......

Squishies? Hey, hey, come on. Let's keep the WoW slang in WoW, ok?
In GW, there are no squishies.
In GW, every profession can do a bit of everything.

Geez...

This suggestion is like going to a Jewish temple to sing the 'Hare Krishna'.

Mithran, "Squishy" means a weaker target in the first place. It's not only WoW and has been used in Guild Wars for ages.

I am offended.

And as for the suggestion, please no. That sounds like it promotes tanking, which I strongly dislike.

Stop bringing idiot WoW-mechanics into Guild Wars. If I wanted to play WoW or some Korean MMO I would.

Default Take The Chill Pill Kids

please children, take yer ritalin. the man just made a sudgestion, u all act like he just stepped on your family jewels.

WARNING PVE SPEAKING (bad english).
ok so im a man, that has played gw since it started on retail, and now i find myself enjoying world of warcraft, after some time playing it, i do find more quality than guildwars in terms of role play (you get what you pay for), Warriors are tanks and can be effective DPS, sadlly,in GW the war role of a warrrior is just BAD. ppl just dont look for a war in party..cuz if u want DPS, get an ele. rite? and if u want a tank...wait.... what for? excactly.

ps: reason why i just later did pvp only, now i just left the GW world at Rank 5 Gladiator (TA) and R6 Hero. My intrest for gvg was fair (not for semi-casual gaming at the time), and well pve just felt NOT rewarding at all.

OHH AND BTW: i just came here, cuz i heard of the new updates and wanting to see if theres anything that could take me back to GW, PVE WISE nothing at all, pvpwise its a maybe ill give it another try this weekend. its just my humble opinion plz no flames. ty gl hf
